We’re thrilled to announce that Leah Gates, MA, Senior Associate Director for Fellowships in Undergraduate Research & Enrichment Programs, has been selected for a Fulbright U.S.-Taiwan International Education Administrators Award! This award aims to familiarize U.S. higher education administrators with Taiwan's higher education system, society, and culture, with the ultimate goal of strengthening relationships between the United States and Taiwan.

“To have Leah Gates represent Drexel as a Fulbright International Education Administrator in Taiwan is a huge contribution to both putting Drexel on the global map and to opening up possibilities for further cooperation with Taiwanese institutions,” says Rogelio Miñana, PhD, Vice Provost for Global Engagement, who supported Leah’s application. “Drexel’s most valuable assets are its students, faculty, and staff, so the more of them we can get out there in the global arena, the better for our reputation and international collaborations.”

Through this award, Leah will travel to Taiwan in March 2025 to participate in a two-week group seminar with other American higher ed administrators and representatives from Taiwanese universities, private sector agencies and organizations, and government agencies.

“I am so excited to learn more about opportunities for our students in Taiwan,” Leah shared. “Taiwan is home to one of the largest Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship programs in the world, as well as a growing number of Fulbright graduate study awards, so I am looking forward to learning more about these and other opportunities for Drexel students and alumni to engage in research, language learning, and study abroad.”

Neville Vakharia, PhD, Dean of the Pennoni Honors College, shared his congratulations, saying, “We are so pleased that Leah has received this prestigious Fulbright award, which recognizes the leadership role she plays in the Pennoni Honors College and the impact she has on the success of our students. This award will further Leah’s ability to advise and mentor students while expanding the global reach and reputation of our College.”

Congratulations, Leah!
